Question about computer SPYING! True incident!?

about 2 yrs ago i must have clicked on an attachment when i opened someone'e email. Anyways i am convinced this person could see exactly what i was doing on the computer. Before my computer even fully turned on this individual would manage to sign in. no kidding! it would take my computer about 6 minutes to turn on and get ready to go. anyways i could see from another computer that within 2 minutes of my computer turning on this other individual would sign in and know that i just turned the computer on. the thing is i haven't turned the computer that was being spied upon in over 2 yrs. is it safe to say this individual's spyware died off automatically or would it be possible for this person to continue spying where they left of 2 yrs ago. they had all the info they needed. so my question is would i have to click on another attachment for them to continue spying or do they still have the ability to do it even though my computer been off for 2 yrs
