Why should romantic love be limited to one individual? When the world has so many amazingly unique people?

I think it's because there's something amazing about being someone's EVERYTHING. Yes, your mother loves you unconditionally, but unless you're the only child, she loves your siblings just as much. Your spouse or mate has the potential to be your everything, and you the everything to them. To have multiple spouses would cheapen that.
